The result showed that the students’ ability and autonomy in writing essay improved after implemented the worksheets in two cycles. In the essay they proposed that the 30 September Movement was indeed entirely an internal army affair as the PKI had claimed. The design used covers the four stages: planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This research used both quantitative-qualitative approach under classroom action research design to describe the implementation of self-editing and buddy –editing worksheets in teaching writing (essay). Thus, the researchers applied self-editing and buddy –editing worksheets as an alternative to solve the problem being faced. It is “how to arrange the ideas in paragraphs to be unified and coherent”.
